Rules
Every pick earns points for how close it was. Here is the whole system — with a calculator, so you can try it.
How a pick is scored
Three things are measured and added up. Each one pays less the further off you are — the first goal of error is expensive, the fifth is nearly free.
Only the result itself is all-or-nothing. A pick that reads the result wrong still earns for how close the scoreline was.

Knockout options
What each round is worth
Equivalent rounds share a row, while the selected competition supplies its own weight and maximum.
| Round | Weight | Best pick |
|---|---|---|
League Phase Group Stage | ×1 | 101 |
Knockout Playoffs Round of 32 | ×1 | 101 |
Round of 16 | ×1 | 101 |
Quarter-finals | ×1 | 101 |
Semi-finals | ×2 | 202 |
3rd Place World Cup only | — | — |
Final | ×7 | 707 |
A two-legged round already scores three lines, so its structure supplies most of the climb. The semi-final rises to ×2, while the single-match final reaches ×7.
A two-legged tie has three scored lines — leg 1, leg 2, and the aggregate — worth up to 101 each.
What a 2–1 is worth
Seven picks against the same result, before the round weight.
The 56 for the result is the only cliff in the system: every pick above the gap read the result correctly, every one below it did not.
Show the whole scoring grid
Every pick from 0–0 to 4–4 against an actual 2–1. Rows are home goals, columns away goals.
| 0 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | 20 | 24 | 16 | 13 | 11 |
| 1 | 87 | 30 | 20 | 16 | 14 |
| 2 | 86 | 101 | 30 | 24 | 22 |
| 3 | 76 | 86 | 87 | 20 | 16 |
| 4 | 72 | 80 | 76 | 82 | 17 |
Brighter is worth more; the gold cell is the exact score. The hard edge running through the grid is the result cliff.
Prediction Tracks
Join the tournament at any stage.
Each track is a fresh prediction set, scored only from its entry stage onward. Miss the group stage? Join from the Round of 16 — you'll compete fairly with everyone else on that track.
Champions League rounds open as their draws are published, so each knockout track is picked against the real ties rather than a bracket you built.
You can predict on every track — each is scored independently, and your profile breaks down points per track.
Top Scorer Bonus
Pick the tournament's top scorer before the first kickoff — one pick, locked once the tournament starts.
Between a flawless round-of-16 pick (303) and a flawless quarter-final one (404) — one call, made before a ball is kicked.
Ties are generous: if several players finish level on the most goals, every one of them counts as a winner — anyone who picked any of the tied players gets the full bonus.
Own goals and penalty-shootout conversions don't count toward a player's goal tally.
Frequently asked questions
- How does ChampSheep scoring work?
- You earn points for how close each pick is: the biggest single share for the right result, then for the right margin and the right goal counts. Later rounds multiply what a pick is worth, and in a knockout you also earn for backing the side that goes through.
- Is ChampSheep free to play?
- Yes. The core prediction game remains free: make picks, join standard leagues, and compete on the leaderboard at no cost. Optional paid plans add subscriber benefits without changing competitive points.
- Is ChampSheep gambling or betting?
- No. ChampSheep is a free-to-play prediction game. There is no entry fee, no stake, no odds, and no cash or material prizes — you play for points, rank and bragging rights. Our Terms also prohibit using ChampSheep leagues to organize real-money competitions. Optional subscriptions buy an ad-free experience and cosmetic extras, never a competitive advantage.
- Can I play with friends in a private league?
- Absolutely. Create a private league, share the invite link, and compete head-to-head with friends, family or coworkers in your own league.
- What can I predict on ChampSheep?
- You can predict every match of the World Cup 2026 — group-stage scores, knockout results, and which teams advance through the bracket.
- If my knockout picks are based on my group predictions, am I stuck when reality differs?
- No. Each track's opening stage uses the real, confirmed teams, not your earlier guesses. As each stage finishes, a new track unlocks against reality — 'From Round of 32' once the groups end, then 'From Round of 16', and so on through to the final. Your earlier picks stay but only earn points where they matched what actually happened, so you can re-enter at every stage and never get locked in.
